Fish abundance estimation with imaging sonar in semi-intensive aquaculture ponds

نویسندگان

چکیده

To know the abundance of fishes and their size distribution in semi-intensive rearing systems traditional ponds is an aspect key to plan manage efficiently sales lots. Usually this information obtained by means sampling which mandatory supposes a direct catch stressful time consuming management fishes. Therefore, work we propose use non-invasive procedures based on multibeam sonars or imaging count ponds. For that, commercial technology portable-fixed sonar estimate gilt-head seabream ( Sparus aurata ) fishfarm from image analysis adapting statistical methodologies traditionally applied for bird estimation. Additionally, simulation software was developed emulate fish aggregation contained This computer program allows calculation correction factor depends transducer beam relation pond size. The results indicate that estimation as accurate manager using methods additionally it possible obtain realistic function biomass

Digital Scanning Sonar for Fish Feeding Monitoring in Aquaculture

Feed waste results in increased production costs to the cage fish farming industry and produces negative environmental impacts. A computerized system, consisting of digital scanning sonar and current meter, was developed for monitoring, assessment, and optimization of the fish feeding process. The system can detect and monitor quantity and direction of wasted food pellets and also predict the t...

Integration of Intensive and Semi-Intensive Aquaculture: Concept and Example

An experiment on integrated walking catfish-tilapia culture was conducted for 5 months. The walking catfish were stocked at 400 and 800 fish/cage in two 4-m nylon cages, which were suspended in each of two 250-m earthen ponds. Sex-reversed male tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) were reared at 1 fish/m2 in the open pond. Whereas the catfish were reared with supplemental feed, tilapia were solely d...

Blue Crab Aquaculture in Ponds

North Carolina’s Blue Crab Fishery As North Carolina’s number one fishery, blue crabs, Callinectes sapidus, are part of an important industry for numerous coastal communities. The fishery supports commercial fishermen, dealers, gear providers and processors throughout the year. Fluctuations in landings have led to concerns over crab populations and the livelihood of the commercial crabbers they...

Semi-intensive Culture of Red Tilapia in Brackishwater Ponds

An experiment was conducted at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, to investigate effects of fertilization rates and salinity levels on the growth of sex-reversed Thai red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.). The experiment was designed to test two fertilization rates (28 kg nitrogen and 7 kg phosphorus ha-1 wk-1, N:P = 4:1; and 14 kg N and 7 kg P ha-1 wk-1, N:P = 2:1) and three salinity levels ...

Evidence of Increased Antibiotic Resistance in Phylogenetically-Diverse Aeromonas Isolates from Semi-Intensive Fish Ponds Treated with Antibiotics

The genus Aeromonas is ubiquitous in aquatic environments encompassing a broad range of fish and human pathogens. Aeromonas strains are known for their enhanced capacity to acquire and exchange antibiotic resistance genes and therefore, are frequently targeted as indicator bacteria for monitoring antimicrobial resistance in aquatic environments. This study evaluated temporal trends in Aeromonas...
